Puffy and out of breath, a small, chunky kittom swung the wooden door open to her obode. Her dark red, almost black coat was nearly camoflouged against the nightsky of Silveil outside- her silhouetted figure in the entryway to her home only discernable from the light pink and red patterns on her coat, as well as her bright orange eyes and anima. She carried with her several cloth sacks on each arm- two bags to each small arm, all of them visibly weighing her down. Reece was short in stature and not very well muscled, but that didn't stop her from living by the idea of "One Trip, or None at all!"- that was her mantra, no matter how much her best friend would mock her for it. The dark red kittom was the kindest soul you'd ever meet, but she was also thickskulled and determined to boot.
Catching her breath, Reece let the sacks drop to the floor- they were full of fresh produce and things she and her roommate would need for their home; the little kittom noted that she probably should have bagged the jug of milk and the potatoes separately, as to more evenly distribute weight. 'Oh well.... I'll keep that in mind for next time, I guess." Shrugging at her silly decision, she kicked the door shut behind her and hollered into the house, projecting her voice down a hallway to the left ahead of her,
"Bard! I'm home, come help me unload the groceries!"
No noise in response- her best friend-made-roommate was either ignoring her, no longer home, or didn't hear her.
Flinging her arms up and down and back and forth to promote better blood flow after the bags were no longer restricting it, Reece rolled her eyes and wobbled her way towards the hallway. It was dark in the home, but this was normal whenever Reece wasn't home. Bard moreso enjoyed being alone and in her bedroom, so there was really no reason for her to light any candles elsewhere in the house. Reece on the other hand was a busy body- she liked to keep herself active and moving when at home because she enjoyed being productive. A lot of the times she would find herself in the kitchen whipping up something tasty as well as trying new recipes- and Bard was always more than happy to partake in the fruit of those labors.

A soft glow emanated from the bedroom down the hall. The light wooden door was ajar- Bard did always prefer her privacy, but Reece was an exception whom she would share her space with at any time. They were like sisters, but the very best of friends.
"Bard, c'mon help me unpack the food!" Reece knew at this point that Bard was home afterall- there's no way that the other kittom would leave a candle lit in her bedroom unattended. Not with all those books she collected- Bard wouldn't risk damage coming to her large collection of knowledge.
Stepping into the room, Reece came into view of stacks upon stacks of books. Some old, some new, many with worn covers and spines while some others sat crisp and clean. She had hard backs and soft backs, and books with subjects from a wide variety of genres- anywhere Reece looked she could spot either fiction, nonfiction, dictionaries, scholarly books she saved from school, new curiculum books for classes she wasn't even attending- and much more. The books were piled onto the floor and furniture as Bard had run out of space on the bookshelves lining her walls- which frankly would have made up every inch of the walls if not for the fact that she needed a door and a window.
"You got some new books today, didn't you?" Reece stopped in the middle of the bedroom with her arms folded, inclining her head towards a desk near the only window in the room.
"Hmm? How'd you guess that?" Bard's huge light brown ears poked out from behind the few stacks of books barracading her from sight from the rest of the room. It was like she had built a little wall on the top of her wooden desk to start a fort out of. The end of her rish teal-colored lagoon tail was all, apart from her oversized ears, that was visible from behind the desk. The candle she had lit to read with flickered on the windowsill behind her chair, though she was angled just right so that shadows wouldn't be cast on the pages she inspected. The light from the millions of visible stars outside the window weren't enough to illuminate said pages- which was one thing Bard had a problem with in Silveil. She knew she could just move to the bustling city nearby which was always bright and lit up- it would be easy getting light to read there. But Bard liked the quiet of the rural towns across Silveil's Great Lake to the bustling sounds of the cityfolk. When she stopped reading to take a look outside, Bard could see clearly the silhouette of Silveil's Elder Tree reaching out underneath the lake- and she thought when she saw it that the trade off was worth it.

"Well, your desk isn't always the part that's piled high with books. You usually keep this cleared out for writing and schoolwork- you definitely got these today." Reece put on a teasing expression- she loved that Bard had things she was interested in, but goodness if she wasn't going to tease her about her excessive behavior!
"Yeah yeah, I checked some more out from the library today- which I'm reading now- but I did buy some of these too! Look, this one is about marine biology native to the Great Lake of Silveil- and this one is all about different types of moss that grow on the floating mountains of Kyendi!" She yammered on and on about her books- Bard was a very quiet type but once she started talking about something she was interested in then it was hard to get her to shutup!
"Ok! That's all really cool, but I just brought home a bunch of groceries, are you hungry? I was thinking of cooking but I need your help putting the groceries away so that I can rest before I make dinner." She smiled at Bard, who was already standing up to help.
"Ooh yes! That sounds great- thanks for getting us some groceries Reece, why don't you just sit down and I'll put them all away ok?"
