Zimri was excited for this time of the year. It was the harvest season and the time to be together and enjoy the bounty of Silveil. It was the time that the mushroom is in abundance in the region, and the inhabitants are excited to do their harvest for their crafts and cooking. It does take a careful eye to see which glowing mushrooms are safe to ingest, and Zimri is coming along to learn and help. It’s better and safer for the little kittom so he won’t hallucinate and pass out as he did before.

“I can’t wait to do this!” He was walking with his mom, Zuri, carrying a sack and planning to take the mushrooms to the harvesters. “I’m just glad I was able to find time to do this, Zi, but you gotta listen carefully and follow their teachings too.” The older elnin stares down at him sternly since he does have the habit of being distracted so easily. “Yes, mom…” He sheepishly responds to her as they walk along the path to the dense part of the dark forest where the mushrooms grow in abundance for the big harvest.

It was dark, but the bioluminescence glow lit the path, and the elnins who are also helping. “Oh, wow!” His eyes brighten at how beautiful it looked with all the different colors glowing brightly. Elnins, both big and small of Silveil, help the farmers pull up the mushrooms and carefully separate them for their various uses. Zimri walks on ahead with Zuri to see where they are going to first, and then they stopped in front of an information board and farmer who explained how to pick and sort the mushrooms. “Alright, Zimri, you’re going to be in charge of the little mushrooms, but you have to get the ones with the bright yellow spots and place them in that box for everyone to eat.” “Got it, mom!” The little kittom smiles up at her and nods his head on what his task is going to be.

They walked over to one section where he and his mom are going to be harvesting. He looks over at the mushrooms with his sack in his paws and stares at all the mushrooms. “Bright yellow spots… bright yellow spots…” He repeats those words as he looks around on the forest floor and smiles when he saw some growing in front of him. “There they are!” He exclaimed happily and opened up the sack and place it on the ground for now. Zimri needs to use two paws to pull them out. Zimri pulled out two small mushrooms from the earth easily, and he places them in his sack. There was one mushroom that was about his size and probably just as stubborn too. “Hmm… how to I get you out of there?” The kittom ponders as he stares at the vibrant green mushroom. He grabbed hold of it with his paws and tried to yank it out. “Nghhh!!!” He struggles and groans, trying to pull it out of the ground. But it was no avail.

“You’re… really stubborn…” Zimri huffs at the mushroom as it’s just mocking him now. “I’m just gonna dig you outta there!” The kittom grins with the idea, and now he starts to dig in the ground to loosen up the soil. He digs more and checks on the mushroom to see how much he must go and continues with the dig. Soon, he feels like the mushroom is loose enough from the earth and tries to pluck it out of the ground as he wrapped his paws around it and yanks up. “It’s... moving!” There was some give finally, and he pulls more. With all of his little might, he yanks back so hard that he fell on his back, but the mushroom is on him. He stares down, and his eyes widen in seeing that he got the most massive mushroom, and he has the biggest grin on his face and hugs it. “I finally got you!” “Zimri! Don’t hug the mushroom and get back to work!” Zuri yelled at her son, and it made him perk up and carry the mushroom away in the box. “Sorry, mom! I’ll get to it!” Zimri got up on his paws and took it over to the bin, and dropped it away before he continues with the harvest.
