When the sun falls and the moon rises, it becomes dangerously cold in Strynhalde. That's why it's always important to stay indoors and by the warm fireplaces, snuggled up in a fluffy bed with tenderly knitted, mother made, quilts. Perhaps, even with a sibling to share body warmth with. That last one was all Lamb and Wolf had. They have only ever had each other, only have ever needed each other. They may sleep down a dank alley, in a torn up box with tattered trashed blankets, however, at least they had one another.
The box did very little to block out the chill. At least nestled between the buildings, the hard brick helped shield them from the full brunt of it. Lamb curled tighter around her companion. Winter was more kind to her due to all the fluff she had on her body. Unfortunately, Wolf had only the short fur of his normal coat to help protect him. Lamb knew he hated this about himself. In his opinion he needed to be the strong one, and really, he truly was. Lamb may be able to take the cold easier, but she was nowhere near as strong as he is. Wolf's hunting skills was the only reason they don't starve to death on the streets. Lamb's seen other orphans freezing to death, and she's just glad that isn't Wolf and her. They look out for each other, they love each other, best friends forever, and no matter what they'll be together forever.
Lamb pulled the fluffy yellow blanket tighter around them, it was the only luxurious thing they had. Lamb saved up enough coins, from pickpocketing, to afford it. It was her first gift to Wolf. She had to find some way to repay him, after he carved her a bow out of a beautiful dark cherry wood, the cold tinging it purple. Lamb was so happy when he gifted it to her on her 12th birthday. Wolf said he'd teach her how to make arrows for it, and how to track animals for hunting. They both shared a mutual love for dried deer jerky, so the bow was mutually beneficial to them, but so was the blanket. 'I can't wait to sell enough deer pelts to finally buy him a jacket' Lamb thought, as she finally drifted off to sleep.
...
With the sun came a little warmth. It was still really freaking cold but at least with the sun on their backs they could finally crawl out from underneath their blankets. Wolf stretched, popping his back and turned over to Lamb, who had begun restringing her bow. Wolf smiled, he was so happy she loved it, he just knew she would. Unlike him, she didn't like getting physical, and if they ever were to become pathfinders, she'd need some way to fight. Wolf snagged the small hatchet off the cobble ground and strapped it to his pants. It was stolen from some woodsman, but it had to have been less important to him since he just left it outside for someone to take. Wolf needed it for his safety! And for some firewood, though it wouldn't be safe to make a campfire in town, the local town guards might catch them.
Right now, the two of them live deep in the confines of the city, winding alleyways that lead into more alleyways that lead to a small square nook. This is where they set up their home base. It was a city of boxes, fortified together to help keep out the snow, some unneeded blankets were set up to help keep snowfall away from where they slept.
Lamb chortled as she watched Wolf fall face first into the snow, they really needed to shovel the show, their little home is getting a little hard to traverse. Even with all the stuff set up, snow still gets in to crowd up the clearing.
Wolf glared at Lamb while he brushed himself off, sneakily forming the snow into a ball in his hands. After she settled her bow back in its hiding place, Wolf got a good hit on the back of her head.
"HEY!" Lamb cried out in dismay, turning around to see two more snowballs being flung her way. She ducked down as quickly as she could, diving behind a pile of boxes as the snowballs splattered pathetically against the brick wall that was behind her. She scooped up some snow, peaking around the box and was about to launch then when she stopped. Where had Wolf gone? Lamb snuck around the box to the other side, chuckling to herself when she spotted his tail peaking around a box.
"Hiyaaa!!" Lamb kept around and hit Wolf dead in the face with a snowball, the second one hitting him in the chest.
"Aurgg!!" Wolf cried out and fell backwards, one hand on his check the other on his dead faking death and pain. "How could the woman I love so much do this to me!! I'm dying!!"
Lamb laughed and collapsed in the snow next to him, hugging him sweetly. "Shut up you idiot, you ain't gonna die!"
Wolf scoffed in hurt "Wow, you're blessed to be the lady I love and all I get in return is being called an 'idiot.' I'm hurt!"
Lamb chuckled and brushed some stray snow off his muzzle. "Yeah. But you're my idiot." Lamb said tenderly, kissing his forehead before standing out and reaching out her hand. He grabbed it, taking her offer on some help up.
Wolf smiled, kissing her on the cheek, "thanks little lamb."
Lamb blushed and whined, "I told you to stop calling me that! Shut up and help me clean up the place!"
Wolf smiled and nodded, " okay, okay, princess, no need to bite my head off~"
Lamb glared at him harder, "Not that one either!"
Wolf laughed, "fine then! What nickname am I allowed to call you them?"
Lamb blushed and muttered something unbearable.
"What was that??" Wolf cupped his paw up to his ear jokingly, knowing exactly what she said.
"Oof!" Wolf recoiled as Lamb hit him with another snowball before stalking away. Wolf smiled, it was so much fun to tease her!
