"Gourd Riddance"
#103 Draw or write about your elnin or kittom decorating or carving some gourds!
Some elseworlder traditions this time of year are bleeding into Eyre and elnin are enjoying themselves decorating and carving faces onto gourds and squashes of all shapes and sizes. There's been whispers with Feyhallow around the corner that some mysterious happenings cropping up at the same time are the work of fey influences but no one can confirm either way. Some cautious nins are even taking to donning masks to keep fey at bay while working on their creations! Is your nin hard at work on their festive gourd or squash? Have they seen or heard any of the strange happenings or are they firmly a non-believer?
While some of the gourds are ordinary no matter how many times one looks at it, others have reportedly changed expressions. Eyes narrowing, a smile just a little bit wider or crooked.. Yet look away and back and everything seems normal again. Must've just been your imagination...? The adults have dismissed it as the wind but some kittoms swear they heard hissing whispers, growls, or even bold cackling coming from the supposedly ordinary vegetables.
Stranger still, some of the carved gourds have disappeared without a trace without explanation! Every nin asked swears they had not moved or stolen them, yet no matter how hard the search, they never were found in the end. Others disappear only to reappear in a completely different location causing many scratched heads before one day going fully missing.
(As a reminder, if your nin is wearing a mask or otherwise is partly obscured, please make sure they still follow the 75% shown guidelines and are recognizable. The rules to avoid copying or heavy referencing existing franchises also still apply to masks, so no cosplaying.)

- Keep in mind month end dates will vary. We will be granting AP for this prompt based on the timestamp your prompt was submitted by, not when it was approved.
- To Enter: Use the "Submit" button for this prompt!
- Completion Reward:
- [1AP] max per submission per month
- AP must be granted to an elnin you own, so make sure you have an elnin in mind that you're earning this AP for specifically. AP is a character based currency and therefore must be granted to a character.
- [1AP] max per submission per month
- Qualifying for AP:
- Either:
- Draw a standalone background of the Eyre region you would like to earn AP for.
Or - Write 300 words (or more) about a region you would like to earn AP for. Describe in your own words either what aspects this region is known for with imagery or why your elnin would like to visit this region. Be sure to include iconic features of the region or many of the region's general features to make it clear what region they're in.
- Draw a standalone background of the Eyre region you would like to earn AP for.
- AP is a character based currency meaning you will need to own an elnin to claim currency for this prompt.
- Information on Regional Affinity and Eyre Regions can be found in the resource here: [Regional Affinity Guide]!
- If you're unsure what to write or draw about about consider:
- What kinds of activities can you do in the region?
- What characteristics of the landscape draw elnin to this region?
- What parts of the region might travelers need to look out for or find unpleasant?
- You do not need to include your elnin visually or writing wise for this prompt but make sure they are not a focal point. Your elnin should not take up more than 25% of the canvas in Regional Scenery submissions. You're welcome to write a description from the point of view of the elnin you’re earning the AP for or include them if you want, but you’re not required to. Just be sure if you include the elnin you're earning AP for that the focus is the regional imagery description and not dialogue. This just means if you include your elnin we won't mind if it's just a speck on a cliffside in a region like Kyendi but we would ask the elnin not be very large that it becomes the piece's focal point rather than the region.
- In order verify that your piece qualifies for an Affinity Point (AP), please add the following information to your submission's comment text:
- Regional Affinity: [ Eyre Region name (e.g. Ahza, Bellmoril, Ealei, Enmir, Faerindell, Kyendi, Palu'au Islands, Silveil, Strynhalde, Zevija ) ]
- Elnin: [ Link to masterlist entry or their ELN# from the masterlist ]
- Either:
- Maximum Entries: [1] per month
- Other:
- Props/elnin present will not award EC for this prompt if you decide to include them.
- Please only submit newly created art. Please do not submit commissioned works or previously-created art or art done on reused bases.
- As always, non-owners are more than welcome to enter!
- Shading is no longer being required for prompts but flat colors are still required. Shading is now optional.
- Collab pieces are not allowed for prompt submissions.
- All submissions must be your own work. Works produced through the use of artificial intelligence are not accepted in this group.
- FAQs -
A: No! In fact Regional Scenery pieces we would like to focus on the scenery or settings where elnin are not a focal point. Market scenery, etc. populated with elnin are welcome but no elnin should be a focal point or take up more than 25% of the entire scene.

- Draw a fullbody piece of giftart of an elnin not owned by you.
- Make sure if you do not own an elnin or you're doing art of someone else's elnin you have permission to draw or write for that character! You can find more information about this on our Gift Art Resources page!
- An important note for writers: Some owners only allow drawn gift art since writing for characters with little personality info shown on their profile can be difficult. If an owner does not provide a method of contact they are alright being contacted at, or state outright they are alright receiving written gift art, we highly recommend finding a character or owner that does specify they are ok with written gift art. Do not approach users privately via offsite platforms/DMs unless they have been explicit on their profiles they are ok with as much! We don't want anyone feeling uncomfortable or like their personal spaces are being disregarded. If you're feeling stumped but only do writing you can also stop by our discord server (here) and inquire in the #character_connections channel to see if anyone would be alright with a written gift story for a character.
- Under the "Characters" section, for your gift art submission please add the elnin(s)/kittom(s) depicted in the drawn or written gift art. If you are unable to do so please write that character's "Character Code" (ex. ELN001) in the comments section for your submission so they are identifiable, do not just give us their name, we will soft reject the submission and request that you add the "Character Code" in the comments for your submission.

- FAQs -
A: No! Not this prompt specifically.
A: Yes! You should not own the elnin/kittom you are doing gift art of.
A: Yes, just be sure the elnin you don't own that you are doing gift art for is still the primary subject of a submission/is still 75-80% visible.
A: Yes, but make sure you check if the user is ok with a written story or gift art. A user may have information on their elnin's profile or their own profile relative to what types of gift art they are comfortable with receiving for their elnin. If they do not specify but have marked their elnin as allowing gift art you'll want to reach out to them first, just make sure they are ok being contacted! If they indicate they do not wish to be contacted or do not provide a preferred means of contact via dA or discord you may want to choose a different elnin to do gift art for. Alternatively you can check in the group's discord and if anyone has characters they would be comfortable accepting a gift story for! Some users may not allow written gifts if they are concerned about their elnin's personality being inaccurately portrayed.

A: No! In fact, we would like Regional Flora pieces to focus on the flora itself and general scenery or settings where elnin are not a focal point. Tropical flowers found at the base of waterfalls in Kyendi alongside ruins is just one example of a regional flora focused prompt. Background elnin are welcome but no elnin should be a focal point or take up more than 25% of the entire scene. - Make sure if you do not own an elnin or you're doing art of someone else's elnin you have permission to draw or write for that character! You can find more information about this on our Gift Art Resources page!
- Given this is a gijinka/bipedal form-based prompt, make sure if you're gifting a gijinka/bipedal form or outfit that it's consistent with any existing gijinka form preferences the owner has. (ie. If they use their elnin's markings within the gijinka's skin tone or already have a certain skin tone specified for the character be sure to respect their existing gijinka character design/interpretation.)
- We want to be as respectful and consistent as we can. If you are not able to clarify skin tone color(s) and marking preferences for gijinka forms with the owner of an elnin, then we ask you just draw the character bipedal where it is just the elnin's quadrupedal form upright on two legs in an outfit.

The new fauna you are focusing on should be almost entirely visible, if not entirely visible.
A: Mostly when we say the creature needs to be non-magical, we're thinking of creatures that can use magic or whose bodies would have strong magical properties like dragons, unicorns, phoenixes, etc. just to name a few. If you aren't sure if an idea you have seems magical, you can always submit a ticket on site to ask if an idea might not pass before fleshing it out more! For sure though, there should be no mythical beings like sea dragons, and so on. A fantasy spin is ok like giving a rabbit horns or turtle scaled flukes that resemble wings but since Ealei already has a known sea dragon-like being living near it and we're going into this space with the assumption it's probably the biggest thing around in terms of aquatic life and we'd like to keep a respectful distance while still allowing some creativity.
Keep in mind too you can always creatively approach some properties that seem magic-adjacent without having them be magic. Like bioluminescence can cause glowing to occur on earth, creatures having a bit of glow in Eyre is ok! You could also explore giving some creatures a little bit of lift or having them float if they’re very light and sensitive to wind currents.

This is a Seasonal prompt that will recur some years between October through December!
The Regional Affinity information has its own broader resource here: [Regional Affinity Guide]! Please make sure you include the correct info for verifying your prompt qualifies for AP. Thank you!
Please be sure you're familiar with our basic rules before continuing!
This seasonal prompt's "Quick Rules":
- Entry Window: 10/01 -12/31 11:59pm PST.
- To Enter: Use the "Submit" button for this prompt!
- Completion Reward: 6EC
- Bonuses:
- One of the following:
[For written entries] Word count reaches 900: 2EC
[For drawn entries] Including a second elnin/kittom (or other CS): 2EC
- Second elnin/kittom must be 75-80% visible to claim this bonus!
- Plus:
- [Including a Pomu] You're able to acquire an additional 1 EC for this prompt by including a fullbody drawing of your elnin's pomu (for drawn entries) or by including 1 paragraph of your elnin interacting with their pomu (for written entries). Standard pomu guidelines must be followed, unless your elnin's masterlist entry has an indication your pomu is not a standard variant! (See [Lore: Familiars] to learn more about pomu! If you have any questions about pomu at all please ask them via support ticket or in the group discord's #questions channel.)
- [Regional Affinity] You're able to acquire 1 AP (Any Region) for this prompt for the background drawn! The kittom or elnin earning the AP must be owned by you and follow the usual 75% visibility and recognizability rules for this prompt (if the elnin is in their feydream form of course they may not look like an elnin but we should still be able to see a resemblance between the original design and their feydream form). Please remember to make the background visually distinct even if specific regional features are not required this time around. So not just a random simple wall, table, grass, tree, etc. Since there's some freedom here by not requiring specific regional features we still want to see some details that give a sense of environment.
Keep in mind that there are two sort of broader areas that can be depicted for this prompt:- The first area is Eyre as we know it, with all of it's regions as usual and their respective features. Please try to be regionally accurate if your prompt is featuring your elnin in the usual regions. We won't be checking for explicit regional features in the same way we usually would, but we shouldn't see anything weird like snow in Azha, or lush forests in Zevija. Backgrounds in this area would be where you would see elnin participating in making and wearing masks as they normally would just decorating for the usual Feyhallow season and local superstitions.
- The second area able to be depicted is the other side of the Veil, where reality is created by fae stories shared between them. So backgrounds can be in the realm of what fae can imagine, but since they exist in Eyre and the Veil nothing modern/futuristic should really appear in the Veil that would go beyond what they could see or hear about in Eyre. Things that feel magical, alien in nature, or maybe a touch steampunk could all apply to this space as it's spun by the fae. A foggy woodland vibe is usually what is seen closest to the borders between entry from and into this realm where elnin are either entering or have passed through the gates opening to the Veil. Beyond that point, further into the veil, the landscapes themselves can vary greatly. This would be where your kittom or elnin is depicted in their feydream form.
- Qualifying for AP: In order to verify that your piece qualifies for an Affinity Point (AP), please add the following information to your prompt submission comment text:
- Elnin: [ Link to masterlist entry or their ELN# from the masterlist ]
- One of the following:
- Maximum Entries: [2]
- Other:
- All entries must include a background.
- Please include the masterlist number of all elnin present in your prompt submission! Thank you!

"The Mysterious Veil"
Draw or write about your elnin or kittom creating masks to ward off malevolent spirits, or donning one in order to sojourn into the Veil where their feydream form is realized!
---
This year it would seem a higher miasmic density is upon Eyre during the already treacherous months of fall and winter, when the normally reclusive feyfolk walk the mortal realms more openly. Over the years the old practice (once rarely seen outside of villages in fey infested territory) of wearing a mask to ward off malevolent spirits has become more common. So elnin are once again creating masks all across Eyre to support their communities in this chilling time. Ideas are sketched out and supplies are shared with those who want to help in the mask making efforts.
Most of the feyfolk will react strangely to masks- some types becoming confused or frightened if they can't see your true face, as if you are some kind of faceless monster, while some other types of spirits will become flustered if you wear a mask on the back of your head or anywhere else on your body because they won't know which face to talk to. A few of the more unseelie variety of spirits might be dissuaded from attacking you directly if they feel threatened by your mysterious second face, viewing the mask as an unsavory unknowable element (many tell stories of angry whispers heard from close behind, malevolent fey wondering aloud if a mask will avenge the gruesome death of its wearer).
On top of the usual weirdness surrounding the increase of fey activity, Eyre residents are once again struggling with some peculiarly problematic pumpkins and other unusual carved gourds surfacing where they should not be. Outside of houses, next to rarely traveled forest paths, inside of closets.... Pumpkins that seem to be pre-carved, perhaps by some Eyre residents that weren't suspecting some fey mischief to take hold of their carving crafts borrowed from elseworlder traditions?
These pumpkins and gourds whisper incoherently when they think that no one is watching, hissing strange sounds, and making all sorts of uncanny cries and noises. Every so often though some coherent phrases will slip from these peculiar pumpkins. It seems like they become easier to understand as residents get closer to...something...perhaps some place? Some shriek "TRICK OR TREAT!" at any who wander near while others murmur soft phrases like "Dark wings... darker hunger", "Dreamers, masked, unmask nightmares", "Frail veil veils wails.." and other such grim nonsense. Some of the pumpkins and gourds towards the edges of the warded areas are exhaling a thick fog. It's nothing poisonous as far as people have been able to tell...but if enough of this dense substance gathers around, some have reported being able to see into the fog, as if there is some place lurking beyond its murk.

As the weeks pass since the mysterious gourds and babbling pumpkins appeared once again throughout Eyre there are more and more reports that portals have begun to open up near the odd squashes. Disturbingly, these portals emit an almost irresistible call to everyone in the vicinity. The urge to enter the portal creeps into your dreams, manifests in whispers heard over your shoulder at dinner, a persistent itch somewhere unreachable that never quite goes away.
Eyre residents have started to disappear...
It turns out the gourds are guarding portals into the mysterious place known simply as "The Veil". The squat gatekeepers will not let you enter the portal unless you are wearing a mask, hissing rude things at those who approach unadorned. But those that approach with faces veiled are welcomed greedily. When crossing the Veil, elnin are granted a portion of fey magic that expresses itself by using their mask, telling a story of what they become in that realm. When you come out on the other side you will find yourself... no longer yourself. The fairy realm is a strange place, and can do strange things to those who do not belong. In this case, it is transforming those that enter into fantastic creatures, hybrids of their former selves and the mask they wear upon entering. This phenomenon is called the feydream form, a state of being that defies all logic, yet exists all the same. Some say that your feydream form is an echo of your spirit as the fey might view it, and in their realm it becomes your reality.

(For this seasonal prompt we're allowing up to two submissions. This is so community members can depict either the mask making efforts going on in Eyre or their elnin's adventure into the Veil where the mask they've created has influenced their feydream form. That said you're welcome to approach your submissions any way you wish. If you're not partial to creating feydream forms you could do two mask making prompts in Eyre, or if you're particularly interested in the feydream forms you can do two prompts just depicting feydream forms. If you want to mix the two parts of this seasonal prompt just keep in mind that Eyre and the Veil are separate spaces, where elnin cross through portals to get from one to the other. So you might only be able to depict both parts in one submission by having two or more panels, like you might see in a comic to separate the contexts. Doing a mixed entry, drawn or written, provides no extra credit, but we're allowing this option in case you're really interested in doing this prompt for multiple elnin and you really want them to go through the whole journey. Visits through the portals to the Veil are temporary so all elnin should return after their fey sojourn.
We would like to emphasize that elnin feydream forms should not be other CS and should not use or emulate other franchise characters or styles. So you're welcome to give your elnin a mouse mask and depict them as an "electric mouse" but please be creative on the design front since we shouldn't see any designs from certain creature catching franchises referenced. There's more than one way to design an idea and we'd like to keep a respectful distance. The same goes for other games/shows/books/etc. You are allowed to depict your elnin as fantastical or ordinary creatures, like dragons or unicorns or fish, but please make sure styles aren't pulling from franchise styles if you go this route so things don't look too on the nose. Please art responsibly, that's what we're asking. We want to see your style, not a show's, while still having fun with it! If you have any other questions relative to this prompt, feel free to reach out to us via WoE Support Ticket to the "Prompts & Quests" category and we would be happy to help!)
If you're a non-owner looking for an Elnin to draw, or if you'd like to offer your Elnin for use to non-owners, please take a look over here at Our Gift Art Resources Page:

As usual, please feel free to ask questions if anything is unclear. Have fun!!

[Special Quest: Colorful Showers of Light] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.
Details
Depict your elnin watching the streaks of light raining down and noticing that the ones that land on their shadow just seem to disappear into it, while any that don’t hit their shadow seem to settle on the ground for a moment before dissipating. Are they curious about what might be happening inside their shadow or are they disinterested?
Notes
The light showers display as streaks of color with small motes of light left where they land. The streak’s light and motes vary in color, but are generally bright and show up better when it's dark. A field of fireflies would be a good example of how the motes look, only on the ground or very close to it, and with more variation in color. They could be green, pink, purple, etc. but are generally hues closer to white.

While it’s usually cloudy when light showers roll in, they stand out the best at night. Depict your elnin encountering a shower in the darkest hours of a day. Was it an accidental encounter getting caught in a light shower while heading home on a dark night? Perhaps an elnin has been waiting for the right time to throw a neighborhood party in the middle of a light shower and one just fell at night? One can only wonder how the neighbors feel about it…but someone is surely a partynin.

Details
Depict your elnin trying to catch some of the light shower that’s raining down. They’ll soon discover this is near impossible, but it can be a far-fetched dream or a fun game depending on the participant. Are they grabbing a bottle, barrel, or bag to attempt to capture some of the light? Maybe they’re darting around with toe beans flying every which way to try to capture the elusive motes. While there is no known successful method, elnins still feel compelled to try, filled with a strong desire to contain the dots of fallen light within their grasp. Oop. There goes another, gone once the paw is removed.

It is rumored that elnin that wander into this space end up lost for the better part of a day, only to wake up around dusk and hurry home. After this experience, a few elnin are left with a sensation that they’re forgetting something or have lost something for about a week. The sensation usually does not last longer than that though.
Depict your elnin investigating the large boulders and clearing. Do they pass the day immersed in curiosity or have a sinking feeling they’re lost? Are they drawing marks in the ground or attempting to make a map in the clearing? How does your elnin handle this confusing time?
