General Prompt Entry Rules and Guidelines

Please be sure you're familiar with our basic rules before continuing!

A small note as well moving forward.  Due to site prompt submission windows being automated, we cannot troubleshoot any potential problems easily if submissions are made last minute. Often staff, specifically prompt staff, are not up at the time things close in an automated way. We will not make allowances for any submissions made within the last hour before the prompt closes if they are not in before the deadline, aside from very specific cases like a sitewide outage that impacts the site's entire user base. If there are concerns about internet outages/hiccups/lag/etc., please be sure not to leave prompts to the last minute. We understand that some things can't be helped, but we cannot troubleshoot or provide assistance with only minutes to spare.

This month's "Quick Rules":

  • Entry Window: 4/01 - 4/30 11:59pm PST.
  • To Enter: Use the "Submit" button for this prompt!
  • Completion Reward: 6EC
  • Bonuses:
    • One of the following:
      • [For written entries] Word count reaches 900: 2EC
      • [For drawn entries] Including a second elnin/kittom (or other CS): 2EC
        • Second elnin/kittom must be 75-80% visible to claim this bonus!
    • Plus:
      • [Including a Pomu] You're able to acquire an additional 1 EC for this prompt by including a fullbody drawing of your elnin's pomu (for drawn entries) or by including 1 paragraph of your elnin interacting with their pomu (for written entries). Standard pomu guidelines must be followed, unless your elnin's masterlist entry has an indication your pomu is not a standard variant! (See [Lore: Familiars] to learn more about pomu! If you have any questions about pomu at all please ask them via support ticket or in the group discord's #questions channel.)
      • [Including a decorated Pet Rock] This month you're able to acquire an additional 1 EC for this prompt by drawing or writing about a pet rock. (Yes, we are not kidding around!) These are rocks that have a face drawn or painted on them. They can be decorated to look like plants, animals, food, other nins… just be sure to include at least one pair of eyes. Let your imaginations run wild! (Pet Rock Examples by Picnyx: Pet Rock with a face and Pet Rock potatmu! )
      • [Regional Affinity] You're able to acquire 1 AP for this prompt if the background drawn fits the region! Please remember to make it visually distinct to the region, not a random wall, table, grass, tree, etc. You can have a background not themed towards a specific region, but it will not count for this bonus. (See the [Regional Affinity Guide] to learn more about this bonus. For specific guidelines on qualifying for AP for a region you will want to reference the Regional Affinity Guide and the background resources on the page of the region you want to earn AP for!)
Qualifying for AP: In order to verify that your piece qualifies for an Affinity Point (AP), please add the following information to your prompt submission comment text:
        • Regional Affinity: [ Eyre Region name (e.g. Ahza, Bellmoril, Ealei, Enmir, Faerindell, Kyendi, Palu'au Islands, Silveil, Strynhalde, Zevija ) ]
        • Elnin: [ Link to masterlist entry or their ELN# from the masterlist ]

 "Wayward Winds"

#76 Draw or write about your elnin or kittom experiencing storms or the aftermath of stormy weather.

Now that miasma season has come to a close, nins throughout Eyre are excited to stretch their legs and start adventuring again. Unfortunately, sudden, unseasonably severe weather and storms have spoiled their plans, leaving many sheltering in place, then cleaning up debris and displaced items after the storms pass.

How is your elnin dealing with the extreme weather? Are they building a shelter to keep dry during heavy rainfall in Kyendi, or are they digging their home out of ever deeper snow in Strynhalde? Perhaps they are trying to navigate a fierce dust storm in Ahza without getting any pesky sand in their eyes. And once the weather finally clears up, there is still much work to be done. Those piles of autumnal foliage in Bellmoril aren't going to clean themselves up, after all! And maybe some scavenger hunt items that were hidden during the previous month found themselves even further displaced following strong winds and surging tides.

But...what is this?! Somehow, amidst the chaos, a new trend has also taken the Eyre by storm. Much to the dismay of kittoms everywhere, the Potatmu failed to make an appearance this year. To fill the void left by their mysterious, spudly companions, many elnin have taken to creating other inanimate companions of their own - pet rocks! Some snobby party poopers might feel that it is a foolish activity, but it certainly beats sitting around bored while the winds rage outside. And perhaps they might get an extra treat for making one of their own...

Note: This month you're able to acquire an additional 1 EC for this prompt by drawing or writing about a pet rock. (Yes, we are not kidding around!) These are rocks that have a face drawn or painted on them. They can be decorated to look like plants, animals, food, other nins… just be sure to include at least one pair of eyes. Let your imaginations run wild!

- FAQs -

Q: Are backgrounds mandatory?
A: Yes! A background is required for this month.

Q: Do pet rocks need to be decorated?
A: Yes! We need to be able to tell which rock is the pet rock pretty distinctly, so some decoration on it will be what we look for to make that distinction!

Q: How much does weather fluctuate in Eyre? Could you find snow in some warmer place like Palu'au Islands, Ealei, or Faerindell?
A: Weather does not fluctuate much! You could probably find a heavier cool rain or wind so strong it leaves an elnin feeling chilly in a place like Palu'au Islands, Ealei, or Faerindell but nothing extreme like snow! The sort of bad weather an elnin is experiencing for this prompt should make sense and be somewhat adjacent to what weather you usually expect in a location!

Q: Does the bad weather have to involve wind?
A: No! It could be a bad thunderstorm in Faerindell or more rain than usual in Enmir. Though a sand storm in Azha or a clear portrayal of some strong winds in the treetops in Ealei or floating Islands in Kyendi are ok if you do want to portray wind! In some climates like Zevija where areas aren't easily hospitable you may find something like acid rain so most elnin may not trust any rain there since something safer may be less common. We will ask that harsh weather be visible in some clear way in this prompt! If it's windy any background scenery shouldn't be unaffected, we'll want to see plants or trees with ruffled leaves or a slight bend to them if they're less sturdy. If you have a concern something might not be conveyed visibly enough feel free to run a sketch past the prompts team either in the #questions channel on discord, or submit a support ticket on site so we can help!

Q: What if my weather obscures regional features and I won't earn AP?
A: You have full control over what type of weather you want to portray, but we do ask if you plan to earn AP you still keep regional features visible or described in clear ways. If your weather is far off like an oncoming storm you could keep regional features in the foreground or make sure silhouettes are still clear if they're iconic like the architecture or rounded mountains in Kyendi. Use the weather to accent a certain regional climate perhaps? Maybe fog is heavy in the marshes lower to the ground but you still see swampy foliage higher up that your elnin has to duck around or under in Enmir. You just may have to approach things from a different angle!

Below are more details on weather and seasons from the Lore page on site!
"Seasons" in Eyre are not temperature based and instead are largely based around the amount of miasma throughout Eyre. Weather can still vary a little in Eyre regions but those weather patterns align with what is expected of a certain region's typical environment. (For example frequent rain might occur in Kyendi given it's jungles, sandstorms in Azha where there are dry deserts, gentle rain showers in Palu'au and Faerindell, and snowy and sunny but cool days in Strynhalde.) Extreme deviations in weather like heatwaves in Strynhalde or snow in Palu'au would not occur!

General Prompt Entry Rules and Guidelines

Please be sure you're familiar with our basic rules before continuing!
Monthly Regular prompts like this one will have slightly different "Quick Rules" so please read below to familiarize yourself with them!

This monthly regular prompt's "Quick Rules":

  • Entry Window: The 1st of the month until the last day of the month at 11:59pm PST (Timezone Reference Here).
    • Keep in mind month end dates will vary. We will be granting AP for this prompt based on the timestamp your prompt was submitted by, not when it was approved.
  • To Enter: Use the "Submit" button for this prompt!
  • Completion Reward:
    • [1AP] max per submission per month
      • AP must be granted to an elnin you own, so make sure you have an elnin in mind that you're earning this AP for specifically. AP is a character based currency and therefore must be granted to a character.
  • Qualifying for AP:
    • Either:
      • Draw a new non-magical fauna with a background of the Eyre region you would find it in and like to earn AP for. Make sure the fauna drawn is the main focus of the piece, but be sure to include iconic features of the region or many of the region's general features to make it clear what region they're in. Fauna should also be no larger than a deer at this time. (We may expand upon this later but we're starting small for now!)
        Or
      • Write 300 words (or more) about a new non-magical fauna found in the region you would like to earn AP for. Describe in your own words details about the fauna and include at least 1 paragraph worth of other features this region is known for with imagery. Make sure the fauna described is the main focus of the written piece, but be sure to include iconic features of the region or many of the region's general features to make it clear what region they're in. Fauna should also be no larger than a deer at this time. (We may expand upon this later but we're starting small for now!)
    • AP is a character based currency meaning you will need to own an elnin to claim currency for this prompt.
    • Information on Regional Affinity and Eyre Regions can be found in the resource here: [Regional Affinity Guide]
    • If you're unsure what to write or draw about about consider:
      • What kinds of weather regularly occurs in the region that impact how this fauna fits into its surroundings?
      • What characteristics might elnin find interesting about this fauna?
      • Where in the region would elnin normally find this fauna?
    • You do not need to include your elnin visually or writing-wise for this prompt but make sure they are not a focal point. Your elnin should not take up more than 25% of the canvas in Regional Fauna submissions. You're welcome to write a description from the point of view of the elnin you’re earning the AP for or include them if you want, but you’re not required to. Just be sure if you include the elnin you're earning AP for that the focus is the fauna focus and regional imagery description and not dialogue. This just means if you include your elnin we won't mind if it's just a speck on a cliffside in a region like Kyendi but we would ask the elnin not be very large that it becomes the piece's focal point rather than the region.
    • In order verify that your piece qualifies for an Affinity Point (AP), please add the following information to your submission's comment text:
      • Regional Affinity: [ Eyre Region name (e.g. Ahza, Bellmoril, Ealei, Enmir, Faerindell, Kyendi, Palu'au Islands, Silveil, Strynhalde, Zevija ) ]
      • Elnin: [ Link to masterlist entry or their ELN# from the masterlist ]
  • Maximum Entries: [1] per month
  • Other:
    • Props/elnin present will not award EC for this prompt if you decide to include them.
    • Please only submit newly created art. Please do not submit commissioned works or previously-created art or art done on reused bases.
    • As always, non-owners are more than welcome to enter!
    • Shading is no longer being required for prompts but flat colors are still required. Shading is now optional.
    • Collab pieces are not allowed for prompt submissions.
    • All submissions must be your own work. Works produced through the use of artificial intelligence are not accepted in this group.
As usual, please feel free to ask questions if anything is unclear. Have fun!!

- FAQs -

Q: Are elnin mandatory in Regional Fauna pieces?
A:  No! In fact, we would like Regional Fauna pieces to focus on the fauna itself and general scenery or settings where elnin are not a focal point. Small rodent-like creatures foraging on crops in Faerindell is just one example of a regional fauna focused prompt. Background elnin are welcome but no elnin should be a focal point or take up more than 25% of the entire scene. The new fauna you are focusing on should be almost entirely visible, if not entirely visible.

Q: How do I know if my creature idea seems magical?
A:  Mostly when we say the creature needs to be non-magical, we're thinking of creatures that can use magic or whose bodies would have strong magical properties like dragons, unicorns, phoenixes, etc. just to name a few. If you aren't sure if an idea you have seems magical, you can always submit a ticket on site to ask if an idea might not pass before fleshing it out more! For sure though, there should be no mythical beings like sea dragons, and so on. A fantasy spin is ok like giving a rabbit horns or turtle scaled flukes that resemble wings but since Ealei already has a known sea dragon-like being living near it and we're going into this space with the assumption it's probably the biggest thing around in terms of aquatic life and we'd like to keep a respectful distance while still allowing some creativity.
Keep in mind too you can always creatively approach some properties that seem magic-adjacent without having them be magic. Like bioluminescence can cause glowing to occur on earth, creatures having a bit of glow in Eyre is ok! You could also explore giving some creatures a little bit of lift or having them float if they’re very light and sensitive to wind currents.

  • Completion Reward:
    • [2EC] max per submission per month
  • Qualifying for EC:
    • Either:
      • Draw a fullbody gijinka or bipedal piece of an elnin.
        Or
      • Describe a clothed gijinka or bipedal form for an elnin in 300 words (or more).
    • Elnin can be your own elnin or one that belongs to another user.
    • Make sure if you do not own an elnin or you're doing art of someone else's elnin you have permission to draw or write for that character! You can find more information about this on our Gift Art Resources page!
    • Given this is a gijinka/bipedal form-based prompt, make sure if you're gifting a gijinka/bipedal form or outfit that it's consistent with any existing gijinka form preferences the owner has. (ie. If they use their elnin's markings within the gijinka's skin tone or already have a certain skin tone specified for the character be sure to respect their existing gijinka character design/interpretation.)
      • We want to be as respectful and consistent as we can. If you are not able to clarify skin tone color(s) and marking preferences for gijinka forms with the owner of an elnin, then we ask you just draw the character bipedal where it is just the elnin's quadrupedal form upright on two legs in an outfit.
      • You still must have permission to draw someone else's elnin regardless of if they get back to you on skin tone and marking preferences.
    • An important note for writers: Some owners only allow drawn gift art since writing for characters with little personality info shown on their profile can be difficult. If an owner does not provide a method of contact they are alright being contacted at, or state outright they are alright receiving written gift art, we highly recommend finding a character or owner that does specify they are ok with written gift art. Do not approach users privately via offsite platforms/DMs unless they have been explicit on their profiles they are ok with as much! We don't want anyone feeling uncomfortable or like their personal spaces are being disregarded. If you're feeling stumped but only do writing you can also stop by our discord server (here) and inquire in the #character_connections channel to see if anyone would be alright with a written gift gijinka/bipedal form for a character.
    • Under the "Characters" section, for your gijinka/bipedal art submission please add the elnin(s)/kittom(s) depicted in the drawn or written gift art. If you are unable to do so please write that character's "Character Code" (ex. ELN001) in the comments section for your submission so they are identifiable, do not just give us their name, we will soft reject the submission and request that you add the "Character Code" in the comments for your submission.
  • Maximum Entries: [1] per month
  • Other:
    • Backgrounds are not required for this art prompt!
    • You may include additional elnin in your prompt, just be sure the art still has 75-80% of the elnin's body showing.
    • Backgrounds/props/additional elnin will not award more EC for this prompt if you decide to include them.
    • Please only submit newly created art. Please do not submit commissioned works or previously-created art or art done on reused bases.
    • As always, non-owners are more than welcome to enter!
    • Shading is no longer being required for prompts, but flat colors are still required. Shading is now optional.
    • Collab pieces are not allowed for prompt submissions.
    • All submissions must be your own work. Works produced through the use of artificial intelligence are not accepted in this group.
    • It is not required that this piece be gift art, but if you are drawing this piece as a gift you cannot submit it to both [MR-002] and [MR-004] prompts. Each prompt art piece should be unique and not be submitted to multiple prompts.

  • Entry Window: The 1st of the month until the last day of the month at 11:59pm PST.
    • Keep in mind month end dates will vary. We will be granting EC for this prompt based on the timestamp your prompt was submitted by, not when it was approved.
  • To Enter: Use the "Submit" button for this prompt!
  • Completion Reward:
    • [2EC] max per submission per month
  • Qualifying for EC:
    • Either:
      • Draw a fullbody piece of giftart of an elnin not owned by you.
        Or
      • Write a story that is 300 words (or more) about an elnin not owned by you.
    • Make sure if you do not own an elnin or you're doing art of someone else's elnin you have permission to draw or write for that character! You can find more information about this on our Gift Art Resources page!
If you're feeling stumped but only do writing you can also stop by our discord server (here) and inquire in the #character_connections channel to see if anyone would be alright with a written gift story for a character.
    • Under the "Characters" section, for your gift art submission please add the elnin(s)/kittom(s) depicted in the drawn or written gift art. If you are unable to do so please write that character's "Character Code" (ex. ELN001) in the comments section for your submission so they are identifiable, do not just give us their name, we will soft reject the submission and request that you add the "Character Code" in the comments for your submission.
  • Maximum Entries: [2] per month
  • Other:
    • Backgrounds are not required for this gift art prompt!
    • You may include additional elnin in your prompt, including elnin you own, just be sure at least one of the elnin you don't own that you're doing gift art for still has 75-80% of their body showing.
    • Backgrounds/props/additional elnin will not award more EC for this prompt if you decide to include them.
    • Please only submit newly created art. Please do not submit commissioned works or previously-created art or art done on reused bases.
    • As always, non-owners are more than welcome to enter!
    • Shading is no longer being required for prompts but flat colors are still required. Shading is now optional.
    • Collab pieces are not allowed for prompt submissions.

As usual, please feel free to ask questions if anything is unclear. Have fun!!

- FAQs -

Q: Are backgrounds mandatory?
A:  No! Not this prompt specifically.

Q: Are all art submissions of elnin/kittoms that belong to someone else?
A: Yes! You should not own the elnin/kittom you are doing gift art of.

Q: Can I include my own elnin in the gift art?
A:  Yes, just be sure the elnin you don't own that you are doing gift art for is still the primary subject of a submission/is still 75-80% visible.

Q: Can I give my gift art piece a background?
A: Yes! You can submit a background with your gift piece if you wish but we will not be reviewing gift art piece backgrounds for AP.

Q: Can I write a story about another user's elnin as gift art?
A:  Yes, but make sure you check if the user is ok with a written story or gift art. A user may have information on their elnin's profile or their own profile relative to what types of gift art they are comfortable with receiving for their elnin. If they do not specify but have marked their elnin as allowing gift art you'll want to reach out to them first, just make sure they are ok being contacted! If they indicate they do not wish to be contacted or do not provide a preferred means of contact via dA or discord you may want to choose a different elnin to do gift art for. Alternatively you can check in the group's discord and if anyone has characters they would be comfortable accepting a gift story for! Some users may not allow written gifts if they are concerned about their elnin's personality being inaccurately portrayed.

General Prompt Entry Rules and Guidelines

A small note as well moving forward.  Due to site prompt submission windows being automated we cannot troubleshoot any potential problems easily if submissions are made last minute. Often staff, specifically prompt staff, are not up at the time things close in an automated way. Any submissions made within the last hour before prompt close we will not make allowances for if they are not in before the deadline, aside from very specific cases like a sitewide outage that impacts the site's entire user base. If there are concerns about internet outages/hiccups/lag/etc. please be sure to not leave prompts last minute. We understand that some things can't be helped but we cannot troubleshoot or try to help with only minutes to spare.

 "Bonds in Bloom"

Draw or write about your elnin or kittom spending some bonding time with those dear to them!

---

As miasma season ebbs away elnin are able to get out and spend some quality time with family and friends. How are they sharing this new found freedom? Have they wandered out for a walk or is the brief outing a prelude to some indoor activity they've been waiting months to finally tackle?

Across Eyre, elnin are finding different ways to enjoy more time together. Do some sweep up those around them like a whirlwind with elaborate plans for outings and activities scheduled down to the minute? Or maybe they're more a laid back sort and want to simply ease back into more fun activities at a relaxed pace and simply enjoy the increased freedom with good company? Whether sticking close to home still or going somewhere more adventurous, one can be sure wherever they go there'll be a warm welcome!

Are they hosting a family picnic in the auburn forests of Bellmoril or gardenin with friends on the outskirts of Elenion? Maybe some mayhem is on the menu with a surfing contest in Palu'au or kite flying on one of Kyendi's fabulous floating isles. Don't stray too close to the edge!

Category: Special Quest

[Special Quest: Colorful Showers of Light] [Eligible: Kittom | Adult] — Show details for more info.

There goes another, gone once the paw is removed.
